Welcome

Roxbury
Coalition
to Protect
Private Property
(RCPPP)
Website
People
concerned about freedom recognize the importance of property rights as
the foundation for a system of cooperation and mutual exchange. Often,
however, they abandon their convictions about the value of property
rights when they address environmental issues. Yet a more thorough
understanding of property rights would lead them to recognize that
private rights offer the best hope for protecting many components of the
natural environment. - Jane S. Shaw
Who
We Are
Our
coalition includes property owners, Roxbury residents, lawyers,
volunteers, and other concerned citizens who are dedicated to the
preservation of Private Property Rights in Roxbury Township (Morris
County), New Jersey.
Mission
Our mission is to defend the right to own private property. We are opposed
to any effort on the part of the government to condemn, seize, or take
private property. We are opposed to the use the Open Space and Green Acres
laws to acquire property from parties that do not voluntarily wish to sell
their lands. We oppose legislation and zoning ordinances that devalue
private lands by rezoning targeted parcels in an effort to reduce their
value so they can be purchased for open space at less than fair values. We
hold that the government is not the best steward of property and its
ownership of land should be very restricted. We argue that the perceived
"public good" of open space and publicly held lands must never
outweigh the Constitutional Right to Private Property.
We
seek to support all owners of private property in Roxbury Township and
defend their Constitutional Right to own property and do with it as they
see fit -- unencumbered by the prohibitively restrictive and taxing hand
of government.
Issues
We support the right of Ernst Gottdiener and Associates to own the
220-acre tract of land near Mooney and Mountain Roads in Ledgewood. We are
strongly opposed to any effort or threat to use condemnation laws to steal this
property from its owner and against his will despite any "fair"
compensation he may receive. We further condemn efforts to rezone this
property to make it worth less.
